TK Roberts, originally from Texas, moved to the Netherlands when she was 16 years old. She then went on to study Fine Art: Print and Time-Based Media at the University of the Arts London at the Wimbledon College of Art campus. There she focused on making narrative/documentary films combining old home movie footage from the 1950s and family photographs with her own photos and video. Following this, she did a Masters degree in Film Studies at the University of Amsterdam. In this context, she continued her focus on home movies, looking at archival material, writing her thesis on breaking social norms in home movies, using footage from the 1940s-70s. Her interest remains to be focused on archiving home video and photographs and creating new footage and photographs primarily through family portraits and short micro-historical films.
